How to Reach Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park is located in the foothills of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand’s Nainital district. Ramnagar serves as the primary entry town for all safari zones and tourist activities, making it the most convenient base for visitors.

By Road

Ramnagar is well connected by road from major North Indian cities. The drive from Delhi covers approximately 250 km and usually takes 5–6 hours, passing through Moradabad, Kashipur, and Haldwani.
State transport buses, Volvo services, and private taxis operate regularly from Delhi, Moradabad, Haldwani, and nearby towns. Self-drive travelers will find the route smooth and scenic.

By Train

Ramnagar Railway Station (Station Code: RMR) is the closest railhead to Jim Corbett, situated around 12 km from the main forest zones.
Several direct trains connect Ramnagar with cities like Delhi, Moradabad, Bareilly, and Kathgodam. Taxis and local transport are easily available outside the station for onward travel.

By Air

The nearest domestic airport is Pantnagar Airport, located about 80 km from Ramnagar, with limited flight connectivity.
For better flight options, Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (approx. 155 km) is a preferred choice. From both airports, private cabs and taxis can be hired to reach Jim Corbett comfortably.

Travel Guide

Best Season to Visit Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park welcomes visitors from mid-November to mid-June, and each season delivers a different kind of wildlife and nature experience. Choosing the right time depends on what you wish to see and experience.

Winter Season (November – February)

This season is known for its cool climate and clear skies, making safaris comfortable and enjoyable. Early morning safaris feel refreshing, and it’s an excellent time for birdwatching, especially migratory species. Wildlife sightings are steady, and forest landscapes remain lush and green.

Summer Season (March – June)

Summer is considered the best time for tiger sightings. As temperatures rise, animals frequently visit water sources, increasing visibility during safaris. Though afternoons can be warm, morning and evening safaris offer thrilling wildlife encounters and great opportunities for photography.

Monsoon Season (July – September)

During monsoon, most core safari zones remain closed to protect forest tracks and wildlife. However, selected buffer zones like Jhirna and Dhela may operate on limited schedules. This season showcases the park at its greenest and is ideal for travelers who enjoy quiet nature escapes and scenic forest views
